final project for my LA film class about queer representation in mainstream hollywood film. (sorry about the glare)

in looking at the extremely limited representations of queerness (any sexuality that is not heterosexual), i spent a whole lot of time trying to categorize and define all the different ways these characters were portrayed. ultimately, i was left with a deep impression of one, blanket definition; queer people are queer first, people second. they are given a rather black and white label as a group despite how different one person is from another. there is such an emphasis on sexuality that deviates from heteronormativity that queer representation is reduced to a limited, stifled identity.
