Thanks!  Lots of abandoned homes, farms and barns to shoot in that area.

nice find and shot! did you travel farther south on division st..looks like theres another one little over a mile down the road? ..though it might be on private property

No, I didn't go any further south.  But I did go north of US-2.  And I found that barn and elm tree, anther abandoned place and a fascinating double windmill.
Then a little old lady stopped me and told me about another place a few miles away...she said it would be "a real Kodak moment".  And it was!  I just need to get off my butt and edit them.

Considering the state of the roof, I was surprised to see so much of the paint still on, but now i'm noticing what looks like wrinkles?  Is that asphalt siding?

Yes it is asphalt siding (probably with some asbestos in it).
Thanks for the comment Ron...

This made me curious enough to do a little checking on the Internet.  Found a useful site inspectapedia.com/exterior/Asp…  .  While it is possible there might be asbestos in it, it would be unlikely.  i don't think anyone makes this sort of siding in the U.S. anymore.  It was popular in the 40's but since then there has been asbestos siding and then aluminum siding and most recently, vinyl siding.  I seem to recall that the back screen porch at my old house was partially enclosed using this with a "brick" pattern.  So it must have still been used in the 1980's by those doing home repairs on the cheap.

This one has that embossed brick pattern.  Although most of it is now gone from the back side where it gets the prevailing wind.
This was probably sided in the 1930's before the war.  So after 80 plus years is is amazing that much is left at all.

Another great find...  this one hasn't been abandoned for as long as most, it seems...

Thank you.  From this side (the south) it is in better shape than most.  Probably because of the asphalt siding.
But the east and north sides are in pretty bad condition.  And once the roof starts to go the deterioration accelerates.
