This is beautiful! My only thought--I'm not trying to make light of anything (!) but at first glance I thought the stone man was giving viewers the thumbs-up...?Β

Say, is this the figure in the foremost statue supposed to be the same fellow whose likeness inspiredΒ The Brass Soldier redone Β ? Β One wonders if some ancient craftsman decided to start making all his stuff in his own image - or some king started having his artisans all slap his face on his palace and soldiers...
I suppose the fact that I'm thinking along these lines at all serves to show how evocative and inspiring your work is. Β Keep up the awesomeness!

You are so insightful. Yes there is a small world/ head canon story I draw from when its not the separate string project/ music men project. I love when people catch things like this.Β Lets just say its a kingdom long gone. Where the king went and all the subjects is a mystery. He left a world of symbols behind of opulence left to be reclaimed by the world it was built from.Β
hopefully I can do more personal art someday.

In my experience, taking time for an occasional personal projects isn't just nice; it's imperative. Β I've known so many artists who have "burnt out" after a long grind on some project or other, without letting their Muse have time to play and recuperate. Β Here's hoping you get lots of opportunity!
As for the inner world of Andersonia, that sounds like a really intriguing setting! Β Even those little glints of detail (plus the ones I see in your work) are compelling and evocative. Β I'll be keeping an eye on its future developments.
In a way, I have something similar on the go, with my Dayah Forest project (Β djake.deviantart.com/gallery/4β¦ ) - except that I'm far more blatant about my intention to build a world out of it. Β I figure, if I get viewer input and feedback as I go, it helps to build a place that others will wan to hear about and explore.
Good luck!

well so far This board game thing I am working on does sorta fit personal art for me. I basically get to invent another world. So its been keeping me sain in all this work madness.
Yeah mine is more of a evolution of a world that grows with me.

For sure! Having a βpet projectβ is always a good way to keep up the artistic ambition. For my part, I do find it hard to focus on professional matters when I have something cooking in my own ideas, but Iβd have probably given up long ago, if I were solely creating for a paycheque.Β

Thanks! I am still trying to get the hand of it too. My suggestion is to put down some hard highlights and use a mixing brush to blend the highlight in with visible bristles to define the form.

I'm a sucker for massive sculptures-turned-architecture. Having the colossus' beard hang down to become temple pillars is super clever!
