Description
We've ordered the servants to stay away from the room. They have been ill at ease ever since Grandfather Jie suddenly showed up back home a week after the funeral. Yesterday I asked the priest to come check the ward again. He assured us that so long as we don't touch it, the prayer slip should remain well in place. I come in every day to leave Grandfather his meals. I don't much like it, but my husband is adamant I keep cooking him his portions. Money is tight and we can't afford a reburial right now. My husband believes a full stomach should keep his father content until our next shipment arrives.Chinese Jiangshi. I tried to channel my inner Junji Ito for this one, but it's hard to emulate the master. Didn't know what to do with this prompt for the longest time as I wasn't in the mood for wizards or bubbling cauldrons. Then this hit me! It's the month of Halloween after all, I'd be seriously remiss if not one of the prompts had a horror theme going on.
Chinese inks on coloured paper and white acrylics.

I like horror ambience of this art especially the spooky eye at the back of hierogram.
I am curious to ask, why is the hierogram spell prosperity (大财)?

Thank you! I enjoyed painting this.
I referenced it from item.jd.com/16204225916.html
So the spell is actually incomplete (ran out of space haha to work that finely). (Maybe that's why he's able to peek out from under the Fulu talisman ) However, there seem to be many types of spells possible for using to drive away Jiangshi as I've seen many different examples with different text. Some are passages come from the Daodejing, but it all seems rather arcane to me as I'm not too familiar with the subject.
I did find this very informative source that speculates the whole thing came from movies anyway: www.quora.com/How-do-you-write…

I know about Jiangshi from a very old Cantonese movie, "僵尸先生" (Mr. Vampire) starring Lam Ching-ying. The movie possible inspire you even more.

I can't express how much I like this one! Very interesting work, the subject, shading, very creepy, but very intriguing at the same time. My favourite from your works this Inktober ^^

I'm ecstatic you like this one in particular! All day I was just toying with ideas and I hated all of them until inspiration struck well into the evening. Super fun to do this one. Thanks so much

I totally get that! But I just live for that feeling of being deeply unsettled yet intrigued, much as it makes sleeping an impossible task afterwards. And for that Uzumaki is perfect. All of his short stories are arguably even better
