there's something eerie about a man in a mask with a cute child with a beanie sharing the same space. red and greens melt together nicely to create a heavy mood.

...well, I'm not sure, but I'll take a stab at it. From what I see, I see a young boy stopped from his play with his yo-yo to stare at an old bleeding tree; possibly trapped in a battle against good and evil with the right side covered in blood and the left still untouched by darkness. As for the man in the mask,
...that's a hard one. Maybe he is the one responsible for the bleeding of the tree and is waiting in the shadows to force the boy to be a part of his dark vision. Or maybe...maybe he is symbolizing one who had been trapped within the darkness of the tree's evil and, upon seeing the boy's prue innocents finds himself looking back on his own childhood of simple purity; represented by the thin white string.
Hope that wasn't too much of a rambling.

Really? Oh yeah...now I see it. Hmmm....well then, that actually makes a bit more sense, I think. Now I can say that the boy could possibly be being drawn into the dark side of the tree by such a sin as gluttony; finding himself so attached to his food its as if he's holding it on a leash. And maybe then, the string held by the masked man could be an invisible cord of control around the boy's weakness of food; slowly drawing his into the dark world that is his own. Could there possibly even be a reason why the cheesburger seems to be pulled towards the red side of the tree?? Am I even getting close here???
