Well, I think I’m calling this one finished now. I still don’t love the light rays, but that road was set by the underpainting so it is what it is. If I were to do it again I would make it a little different, a little less.

But other than that I’m pretty happy with this one. I think I finally reached a good happy medium of blue wash and local color variation. I did decide to keep the girl (likely a nymph of some kind, but who’s to say) very ethereal looking, and I gave her a bit of glow.

This was an idea I had quite awhile ago, of a fae-like girl “hibernating” on the ruins of an ancient tree, protecting a sapling through the winter. I’m not sure if I really got the winter feel enough, but I like where it ended up with the coloration.
