Even though from a Lore's stand point, the heroes would be hopelessly outmatched since the villains (Though I would not call Alarak an all out villain) power is far beyond the heroes.
But that does not change the fact that this picture is nothing less than AMAZING!!!!

zoom in and you see how rough it really is the details are few but effective with his skill id imagine not too long. to be fair there are pros doing things like this within a day, not kidding. a lot of time they need to do several finished paintings/ week.

It also benefits the appearance of the final product. If everything was fully detailed the image would be too saturated, the eye wouldn't find any details appealing. In this image, key areas are more detailed; weapons and some armour. This way they stand out more. While I agree that these guys are expected to do a lot of images at a time, as this is loading screen art, the artist would be expected to spend a lot of time on it. Also, one day is a lot of time for one painting; if you're a professional and talented artist.
