    This a very rare species, nigh extinct, and only exist on a secret planet protected by a unique species of humanoids that for all appearances are identical to humans.

  The spearwings are incredibly agile, and venomous, predators on both land and in air, and are feared by most anyone who encounters one, but they in truth are very family-oriented creatures. The mothers will care for their offspring for many years, and family units usually stay together for many generations. When dawn breaks, they have an odd habit of greeting the morning with ethereal cries that sound like a sort of singing.

  Their metallic hide and scales are very durable and extremely valuable, and one of the reasons why they've almost been hunted to extinction. Their copper-based blood is also highly sought after for medical research.

  The humanoids that protect them are quite interesting as well. This elusive race is known only as the mono-morphs. They can take a single form other than their original, and it becomes as much of their being as their first. Usually, they will seek out rare and threatened creatures - they would leave their home planet at an age at or between 15-18, and they would look for a creature that 'speaks' to them. Like a spirit animal of sorts. They would watch this chosen animal, learn all there is to learn about them, and then befriend the creature. The first time they make contact with it, and open their mind to it, their being is imprinted with the 'blueprint' of the creature they chose.

  The spearwing is a difficult creature to blueprint, so only a very few have successfully obtained this as their second form.
