Description
I shot this in colour (or color for the Americans!) But because I used a fill flash to give the bird some texture and so it didn't blur at all, the colors came out very strangely. I used my pop up flash on my 7D, as I didn't have my 430ex speedlight with me, and I hate pop up flashes, but it was necessary here unfortunately. The mountains reminded me of an Ansel Adams shot, although without anywhere near as much texture and range as his! I converted to black and white, played with the contrast a little and decided to upload to see what you guys think.
Let me know, thanks as always, Enjoy.

In both senses: writing a critique and of the point of view of the bird. I am not sure, what kind of bird it is, so I call it "bird". e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/sā¦ " width="15" height="15" alt="

I really appreciate they b/w-composition. The well-processed structure of the clouds is very good, too.
I think this picture is balanced and not balanced at the same time.
Balanced, because the sum of black parts, compared to the white parts is nearly 50/50.
Unbalanced, because the bird's black silhouette, underlined by the sunset, makes the observer focus on it. That is not meant negatively. In the opposite: it is good, that the eye can focus on a motive. Unbalanced in the meaning of: on the left part of the image there is a high contrast and on the right there is more or less a homogenious part.
This has a great effect, because suspense is concentrated and a certain dynamical movement is expressed do tue the fact, that the bird spreads its wings in a very vivid angle.
I think this work really deserves to be featured because catching such a bird and at the same time compose a incredible artwork is extremly difficult.
Great work, my friend!
Regards from Germany,
Jonathan

Very beautiful picture, I love the feeling that the sky gives, with the clouds. I actually am not so sure about how to describe it, but I like it a lot.
