Description
This is my Blood Elf Paladin in World of Warcraft.Inspired by my completion of "True Masters of the Light", the quest where I get my epic mount (and Blood Knight tabard). The quest (after a painfully long and expensive chain) has me venturing to a chaple in Stratholme that is untouched by the Undead Scourge presence there. Inside the chapel is one lone Paladin protecting the eternal flame. The chapel, I learned, was the spot where the Order of the Silver Hand was formed (ie, the Paladins that protected Lordaeron and included Uther the Lightbringer and Prince Arthas Menethil). I was instructed by Lady Liadrin to put out that eternal flame, thus extinguishing any hope of the Order regaining strength and fighting back the Scourge. I killed the Paladins protecting it and then claimed my reward.
I almost cried when I heard the story. I wanted my epic mount, but this was so terrible. I felt worse than when I desecrated Uther the Lightbringer's tomb for that one guy in the Bulwark. Bastards. It was also hard because on my Alliance server, my guild's name is "The Silver Hand"... ouch...
Mwahahaha, Arandur being emo. The point was that everything on him is kinda messed up, except the Blood Knight tabard. He gets his hands dirty for Lady Liadrin, and she can pretend that it's not such a terrible crime. It's sick.... I love it...

He's holding the "Sin'dorei Warblade" because it looked cooler in this image than the handle of the axe he actually has equipped right now... and while I worked on this, he got a new belt and shoulders. Oh well.

I love it. This image pretty much epitomizes how screwed up the blood elves were back then.
Arandur needn't feel bad about doing Lady Liadrin's dirty work. Even the Regent Lord has done questionable things for her. By the Light though! she's come a long long way since those days.
Those shoulders and the Sin'dorei Warblade are still some of my favorite pieces in the game, low rez textures and all. I wish cloaks actually looked like that in game.

It was unimaginably painful! I played Warcraft and Warcraft II growing up and I had read all the books. Turalyon remains one of my all-time favorite Warcraft characters, so I have a close connection to the Alliance, and the Silver Hand specifically. The worst part of the quest was the fact that there was only one old, grizzled paladin protecting the flame we had to snuff out, and he begged and pleaded that we not destroy it. And Lady Liadrin knew what she was doing, and what it would mean. It was senseless.

Yup! I have sort of a love/hate relationship with Liadrin. I really wanted to hate her when this happened, and her treatment of the Naaru, M'uru, under Kael'thas' orders. But then when the Shattered Sun Offensive started she apologized to A'dal, and I started loving her again. Hahaha
I've been playing this character (in the picture) again and got him to 90. I think it's time I redo this image, what do you think?

The book what inspired me the most was Lord of the Clans, the book about Thralls life. And the character I really hate is jaina.
It's Always great to see improvement between drawings, so I think you should.

Okay, I feel bad about commenting on a older piece so many years later, but wow, is that really what happens for the paladin quest? I need to catch up on my lore... Man, I feel terrible about that... I love Blood Elves, and in my head canon (obviously not in game), my main character was a Blood Knight before she died and became a Death Knight. That just makes Liadrin a super-bitch...
Anyway, as for the piece itself? It's gorgeous, truly. I love how everything but that damn tabard's effed up. And he looks so miserable, poor elfy.

You're quite someone after my own heart. I'm on Deathwing, a PvP server, but was from Moon Guard, an RP server. Such story/quest lines tug at my heart string simply because of the emotion I once put into my characters.
Very well done; I'd love to actually frame a copy and put it somewhere.

So you were affected by the end of that quest chain too? I understand what you're talking about, all the while during that quest I was thinking, "what am I doing? WHY am I doing this? I'm actually helping the SCOURGE against fellow PALADINS! It's senseless, killing people I should be embracing as comrades in arms under the banner of the Light!"
As you can tell I too get involved with my WoW character a bit more than is probably strictly healthy. ^.^; But this picture perfectly sums up how I've felt after more than one particularly distasteful quest on my BE pally. Well done.

I ran in, favorited and ran back out because, quite frankly, and I nerd and I like blood elves, but, after reading that story, I feel terrible for not commenting ;^;.
Firstly: really beautiful. Even when I slipped in to favorite it real quick, I could feel this sort of saddness (for lack of a stronger word atm) from it. After reading the story, I think you captured it very well, and I do like how the tabard remains ungrazed while the rest of him is torn to shreds, broken and bleeding.
It's a very beautiful picture, and the way you did the lineart, the coloring... Everything! It all fits together, and it's just incredible. I can feel my heart aching, as nerdy as that has to sound x//D;.
Very nice. You've inspired me to take the hard way to get my epic, if only so I can see for myself what this trying adventure would feel like C:.

Ah! A like spirit! *hug* Thank you for sharing in my geekery! I appreciate it, considering I spend a lot of time rebuffing (pun not intended) the comments I get when people think I'm too involved in the game. Maybe I am, but if Blizzard didn't want to create a game that could move you, they wouldn't have.

Exactly! I've cried at some quests, even. Like that Death Knight one, where you have to kill your friend by the chapel or whatever it was ;A;. And there was one in Durotar, where I had to break the news to a mother that her son was eaten by crocolisks. Hahah, that game's so emotional for me x//D;;.
I play on Dragonblight and Velen. Dragonblight's my Horde realm, and Velen's my Alliance. Because, quite frankly, I have too many characters xDDD. You C:?

Trollbane (pve) for both Horde and Alliance. Though I've been playing Alliance a lot more recently. When I drew this my paladin was on Nazjatar, which is a pvp server. I got him all the way to 61, then transferred him to Trollbane to play with some friends there. It's a lot easier on a normal server, but I can at least say I got him that far on pvp. I then lvled him to 70, got some gear, but now with WotLK I haven't really touched him. I did one quest in Howling Fjord and that's it. lol Still wearing that tabard though.
Alliance side... I have a feral druid (who also appears in my gallery) who, before WotLK, was my main. I was in a guild with some of my friends and siblings and we were running Kara pretty much every week, working our way up to ZA. Then there was some guild drama and my sister stopped playing. When WotLK launched she got back on and I got my druid to 74 with her, then she quit again. Some friends and I decided to roll all new alts and I decided to roll something I'd never played before (cause I've always been either a tank or melee dps) and rolled a holy priest. With my group of four friends we made a perfect five man group, and got I got my priest all the way up to 80 really quickly (I think). Now he's sort of my main, but I've been playing my drood again trying to get her up. I made 76 last night with her.
Wow, that was a long story.
