Description
I foud another faerydragon from my garden! ...or it could be that I sculpted that one too. Krhm. I can´t fool you, can I?This one is a bit newer than the another one, as you can see it´s turned out much better. No marbles this time, this little fellow was sculpted as a "shoulder pet" for Ropecon 2005, a finnish rpg-event. I named him as "Ötökkä", which means a bug in finnish. That name just suits for him. ^__^
Done same way than the other one, just without a marble. I was going to make him different colour than the another one, but then just couldn´t think which other colours to use with peacockfeathers than green, white and gold. Damn.
Here´s my other faery dragon: [link]

Excellent, did you make the frame out of wire and then add the clay in tiny pieces? and is it polymer clay?

So so beautiful !
Amazing that you can put so much detail in something so tiny !
How did you attach the peacock feathers ?
I've been trying to figure that out, and also how to attach hair in a realistic-looking way.
Do you know how ?

Thank you very much! ^___^ All the detail in this was the reason why making this took so long time, even though the painting and gluing the feathers took only some hours. I attached the feathers with glue in small holes I had done along his neck and cheeks... How to do a realistic-looking mane or hair I´m not sure, I have been thinking about that a lot with my unfinished unicorn-sculpture. =/ The holes could work, but there should be a better way to attach the hair without it sticking up from his head. T__T

Oh, ok.
Thanks for the ips, I shall try them out sometime.
There seems to be another method of "punching" hair in strand by strand with a special needle, but I'm not sure if that would work with cured clay or if that would be too hard.

I´d think that the clay should still be wet for using needle... or you could just use the needle to do holes and glue hair in after baking, if you have to do so. I haired my old unicorn that way, but it was too a lot of work. There should be an easier way to do that, shouldn´t there?

Yeah.....I'm sure there SHOULD be an easier way, I just can't seem to find it.
However, if I do, I'll make sure to tell you.

Thank you! The pose and his expression turned out surprizingly well on this one even though he was made in hurry. ^__^
