cardinals in winter. i'm soooo original!at least i chose to forgo the pine trees and snow.
i wanted citrus trees, because a heavy grapefruit tree reminds me of winter as much as a snowy spruce. but the complexity broke the format of the series i'm doing.
this is what Florida looks like now. blue and brown. and cold.
so fortunately, these irritating little bastards keep quiet!
no really.
i hate cardinal song.
they start calling as soon as i need to go to sleep, right on top of my head! i have chased them away before like the bed-headed blanket-wrapped grouchy old lady i am when they start that shit.
they are so lovely to look at though. i like the females' coloring; the solid red is so overpowering.
and if they look familiar... it is because i recycled the bird from another picture. the girl one anyway. XD

you do not wish there were cardinals where you live. they are horrid loud creatures! and if you have any nocturnal neighbors, you must be so glad that you do not have cardinals around to drive them into a bloody rage through your neighborhood!

oddly enough i love nightjars, and the limpkin's cry is my favorite bird noise in the world. both of those are even more strident and repetitive than cardinals,

i have cardinals in my backyard, but they don't sing often...the morning doves are always up to incessant cooing though

my cat keeps our yard pretty mourning dove free; i wish the cardinals were easier for him to catch! i'm sorry! XD

what the hell though, it's not even that good! the rook one is 10x better.
cardinals are just so damn trendy like all the owls and deer and goldfish lately! seriously: this did better than my last two DDs combined. and i spent, like, HOURS on those.
i'm not ungrateful just,shocked; the numbers on this were SO incredible! and if i saw it in the DD place i wouldn't have glanced twice.

One thing I've noticed lately is DDs have become more about content than quality. I love this one but I agree the rook one was technically better, and the other DDs you got should have got just as many favs, if not more.
I've seen a lot of crappy art in the DD section and it makes me bitter/jealous/angry, and often very confused. >.< It's really circling the drain this year worse than any other.
(AND I'M NOT SAYING YOUR ART IS BAD OKAY I'M PARANOID YOU'LL MISUNDERSTAND MEEEE

i reopned the DD panel because i felt like a bad deviant having it hidden... but i still don't look at it much. :/
i should. i glance now and again, i'll just make it habit.
but i miss the old DD presentation format. UNAVOIDABLE SIDEBAR and showing only 1 at a time out of only like 5 picked every day.

I miss the old DA layout and colours most. That dark green was boss.
