I'd like to use this image (with credit given) in a presentation for one of my finals this semester, in order to better articulate the concept behind my final project. Would this be alright with you?

I'll credit you in the references.
I'll leave a link once I am done.

This helps so much! I've been racking my head for the past couple of days trying to understand the anatomy of a human back. Some of the more bulgier muscles elude me! "what are I those things?" I'd say. In any case even after reading through anatomy books I couldn't figure out some of the muscles that only seem to be evident on body builder's backs. But this helps! Thank you so much.

I jumped when I saw this! That is pretty helpful! I was just now trying to sketch some backs, and that isn't something I'm used to doing. Amazing work. I love your pencil style.

You know, this pretty much helps me making the back muscles very well on some of my characters if I ever need help. Seriously and honestly.

I hate drawing backs (and hands). I think you did a good job with drawing the muscle fibers as well. I've added this to my favs just so i've got a good reference now of the anatomy. Thanks and keep up the good work.

That guy is so scary! I don't really like how those steroid eating people look, it's actualy kinda grotesque. I usualy say too much is too much
Still, I do find it very hard to do muscular backs, and like some of the other people who've commented I like to do more simple, fewer lines.
It is a great study of yours, though. For some reason I think comic, or in general drawings, these muscle heads look better than in real life. I guess it's because their anatomy is a bit freakish, they go better in a fantasy world
I like the most the one in the upper right. I think the wrists on the one to the upper left could've been a little narrower, though I guess that's what the modle looked like

HAHA! Thank you. I totally understand the fear.
I have been working on less detailed backs, though, stuff that's easier to apply to reqular "day to day" drawing & sketches..

HaHAHa! I was kinda 'bout to ask you if you could sketch something a bit less massive to use as a reference I good back study could be usefull

. . . and I am one of those people xD You did an absolutely fantastic job here, I think. I especially love the definition of the lats and traps.

Thank you, and I really like how you used the real names for those two muscles! I'm very impressed.

Well, I won't lie, I had to think for a moment whether "traps" was the right word to use for the back neck muscles But you're welcome!

Funny thing is.... Yesterday was the first time I drew a person backwards. I could not make the head look to good going towards the neck. This will help for future drawings.
The one in the bottom the chest area looks to big. Than again....... steroids right.

Very well done. I just think two muscle regions are too massive, they are not naturally underlayed (or ): the middle ones from the neck down on the upper back region and those on the outer left and right under the arms on the chest but only because the waist is too small for a man I guess.

spacehater In reply to tiver [2008-09-20 13:36:19 +0000 UTC]
Thank you!
I used a few muscle magazines for the references mostly. Have you seen those steroidal freaks? Depending on the guy your references, what they workout the most, how tall they are, etc. The look muscles change a little. You're right though, I'm still learning!
About the waist your totally right. I was trying to exaggerate a little.
