COMMISSION / HARMONY PROMPT

This is a commissioned piece for Aspi-Galou !

Norak is once again in the company of Ilaat who is now guiding her through a new lesson of being a shaman and an important one. Connecting and conversing with the spirits! It takes a bit of time but with determination Norak does appear to attract the attention of one and that is of an Owl. I felt the owl was a good place to start as I discussed with Aspi the idea of having these two in the Whispering Forest that Mamota is said to reside within. Mamota's messenger is an Owl but whether this is the said owl I will leave up to the viewers interpretation whether it is or not.

This piece was a lot of fun to work on I did take a little while to consider what I should draw for this prompt and I kept coming back to this idea. So, I figure if something keeps coming back then I'm meant to draw it. The background did change from my original plan but I think it works for what I wanted it to be. This is my first time also drawing a spirit like being and that was a fun learning experience for sure! When it came down to lining and shading Ilaat and Norak I did experiment which I was encouraged to do so by Aspi! So, I used a pencil brush to line both to give a softer edge to the lines. I ended up really liking it for this picture and may very well do it again in the future. The shading was a bit more tricky. With softer lines I wanted a softer shade though I was going to nearly do some hard cell shading as it did also look pretty nice, too, when I had tried. But, I had shaded in Norak in this lovely painterly type style and wanted to stick with that as I felt it gave more of a natural and organic feel to the image. So, I did that with Ilaat, too! Overall, I am extremely happy with this piece and was happy to have the opportunity to draw/color Ilaat again!
