Description
I've had this burning desire to draw something fancy for SM but already did ULTIMATE GROUP FANART not too long ago. Β Rather than retread old ground, I hereby send my love to those wonderfully whacked-out prototype designs , and to a lot of out-of-context stuff I loved from the show's first season.Β (C lose-ups of those newspapers where I drew over tabloids and news headlines)| tumblr || twitter |

awesome, awesome, awesome! i'm a fan of the proto-senshi myself! and i love love love the scattered headlines/TVs, really makes me think of the first season of the 90s anime, where they really brought on the "local superhero" feel. great job!

Man, I love this. Beyond the super-fun, punchy use of the limited colour palette, which I love, and the incredibly fun and dynamic composition - it's plain awesome to see some appreciation for the concept stuff! The whole spirit of those early pictures? Nailed it!
So. Cool.

Yes...I think. It's been many months but I know the colors were 100% Photoshop, if not the lines as well.

wah love it! It's fun to revisit favorite characters with a different edge. Has a very retro fun look. I remember seeing those old concepts from the mangaka but I think you did something really dynamic with them.Β

(I'm sorry this is so late!) Β Thank you! I can see why those prototype designs weren't practical for the comic (or for the visual message of "Hey girls, your school uniform is totally a superhero costume!"), but they were so cute and fun to draw here. Β

I love this so much that it is now my desktop wallpaper! It suits it wonderfully too, I hope you don't mind. It's just so inspiring.
Would you be willing to make the other sailor scouts in this fashion? It would make a killer series! Wish you had done Wicked Lady, too!
Anyhow, I love it. I love it, I love it.

Hi there, sorry this reply is so late! Β I'm so glad you've liked it enough to honor it as your wallpaper, I absolutely don't mind. Β
As to the other scouts (assuming you mean the Outers) - giving them this kind of look would be more original and ambitious than what I did here (which was essentially yanking Takeuchi's prototype designs), but you're right, it could be really fun. Β It'll probably be a while but I'll be thinking on it! Β

Hey, if I wanted to buy more of your prints, where would I do that? I only see your twitter and tumblr listed on your page. Am I blind? D:

Haha, not at all! Β I've been floundering about which online storefront to go with (storenvy? etsy?) and the best way to ship such big prints (cardboard tubes? boxes?). Β I'm hoping to set up something in September now that Otakuthon's done, and will definitely update here when that goes down. Β \o/ Holler ifΒ there's anything you'd like to see available!Β

The Paranoia Agent/Sailor Moon crossover is the one I have my eye on.Β
Would selling right here through dA work? They handle the actual printing/shipping and pay you a percentage, right? Or is the percentage too small to not make it worth it?Β
Also, in my experience, cardboard tubes are wonderful for mailing prints. Some people prefer the flat boxes, but I frame every print I buy, so being rolled is a non-issue to me. Β (Yours got framed yesterday! It lives by my computer now.)

I'm so sorry, I fell off DA for the last month due to a heavy workload, you deserved a much more prompt reply!
For a SM/Paranoia Agent print: I just checked and found that its file is only about 7 inches tall (the original linework comes from my sketchpad). Β As DA doesn't allow fanart prints, and as I would feel bad charging for such a small thing (and because I also really appreciate your stopping by and supporting the Otakuthon table!), would you like the original file to print as you please? Β
