The perspective is great, iΒ΄m not sure about the color pallete. Maybe you could go for something hotter, reds, yellows and oranges... Not just the background but also the main character.
I liked it vey much, it´s just a few details to make it pop out screen e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s⦠" width="15" height="15" alt="

The acting is really good too, if you mean it to be scary you got it right!!! e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s⦠" width="15" height="15" alt="

Personaly i liked to work with straigh forms, with out gradiente, for exemple, the shadows have a transparency gradiente. A Strong and straigh shadow could let it more interesting.
Sorry if i said anything stupid, i enjoy it very much, hope to see more work from you!!!

I always do loving seeing Pumpkinghead art. It really is such a cool monster that scared the every loving crap out of me as a child.
So I guess we should go down the list. Your artistic vision and originality of the beast is very admirable. You were able to create a real feeling around the monster as you have it plunging through the mist and reaching out for a victim. The monster is in clear view as he is the foreground, with the background blurring out as you look further past him.
With all this praise of your idea of the piece you still are not quite there yet in technique. You have a great grasp of shading and minimizing color pallets though. And as I pointed out already you already understand how sharpness reflects to foreground vs background when you have this type of "leaping pose" Really the only thing you need to work on is just your line work and line variation. With all the lines being pencil thin you really do not get the sense he is reaching that far outward. Try thickening up the lines that are going to be the closest to the viewers eyes and you will get such a nice eye popping effect. Add this with a more improved drawing of anatomy and this really would be the stuff of legends.
I always feel weird on commenting on someone's linework and telling them it could stand to be worked on with practice overtime. Mainly cause I know I do not have the most perfect of drawing abilities. In fact I consider it to be poor at time. We can not all be Matt Franks I guess haha.
Overall this left a huge impact on me cause it made me remember when American monsters were something to be feared and remembered. Not laughed at and ridiculed like some Ice Spiders, or Sharktopus, or even a Piranhaconda. You certainly made me happy and started off my morning on the right foot with this piece. For that I thank you. Keep up the good work! I hope my two cents helps out some e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s⦠" width="15" height="15" alt="

I just finally broke down and bought that remastered dvd of that. I had the TV pan and scan 5 dollar dvd for ever. So when I watched the new dvd transfer....it was like watching a completely different movie. I actually started drawing the Demon Lord from that movie. Just been sketching a lot of monsters from American films as of late. I would hope to turn it into a fun little sketch card series.
But do yourself a favor. Stay away from The Gate 2: Trespassers. The whole thing is on youtube but the movie is not worthy of having the same title as the original The Gate.
