Next up is Amy! Someone none of you guessed would be next! (None of you guessed at all...)Besides the robot characters, I try to make my humanized versions a bit more natural looking, instead of having really crazy anime hair and fantasy outfits. My goal was to make human versions that would invoke the same kind of feelings and reactions from the other characters and audience as their mobian counterparts do. Basically, as if I had to retell all of the Archie Sonic history, but with humans instead of mobians. I'm avoiding the typical gijinka look of KPOP boy with blue emo hair. Personally, that's just not my bag, and I've seen it done too many times to do it myself. Cool beans if that's what you like, it's just not for me.
I hit something of a grey area with this one: I don't actually know how old Amy's supposed to be/look in the Archie series. They never directly specified. But I know in the games she's 12, and I've always seen her as being 12. Actually, that's probably why I can never take SonAmy very seriously, because of the age gap.
I made her a little chubs, mostly baby fat that she just hasn't grown out of yet. She sometimes wonders if she's too fat, and boxercises too much because of it. She's 12- she's worried about not hitting puberty right, she likes to read all the fashion magazines and get dressed up, she likes to paint her nails obnoxious colors, she doesn't fully understand why Sonic has a problem with the age difference between them. But she's still sweet, still enthusiastic, and still strong as an ox thanks to the magic power ring (and all that boxercise!) Who says you can't be tough and cute at the same time?
Haha, managed to squeeze in one more picture before I go to bed. Can't wait until I have time to get to the others!

Originally she was going to have a very pink skintone (like think Eddy from EEnE), but in later pictures I've toned it down to something more realistic.

Some people can make the age gap work. I know a lot of older couples, including my parents, who are ten years apart. But the age thing doesn't really even out until you're much older, at least in your 20s. The difference between being 15 and being 12 is pretty significant compared to, say, 35 and 32. That's why it's weird when Scott Pilgrim is dating a high schooler.

Yeah its weird when you're under 18 and its a big gap but idk the age doesn't really bother me. I just think the pink and blue colors and their personality and the way she's so obsessed but he's just like 'stahp' is so cute to me xD The whole one-sided love thing. Or is it? It doesn't have to be go-go boots, but boots in general. I see a LOT of girls wearing boots. A lot.

Remember when I said that she doesn't look like "Amy" to me? Maybe it's because she looks a little more old-fashioned and simultaneosly even younger instead of your average twelve year old. Amy seems like the type of girl that would wear some type of fashionable boots like most other 12 year olds I see. Or at least sneakers.

I'm loving your designs so far, but i have a question... why do the other humanized characters have normal skin tones while Amy's is bright pink? She looks badass, but it seems a little out of place.

I didn't think it was so pink when I was making it. I didn't notice until later and I looked at it on another computer that it was so bright bright pink and not a paler shade I had in mind. But it looks okay so I'll leave it here. In future drawings I'm going to push it towards being a little more neutral and flesh-colored.

As for the age that Amy is supposed to be in the Archie universe, it's a very convoluted issue. She started off in the old SEGA CD character design with the tutu looking dress, and she was 10, the same age as Tails. When Dreamcast launched with the lovely red dress version of Amy, Archie had to catch up with that. So they used an lovely Ex Machina tactic in which Amy made a wish on a magic thingybob of some kind (it's been years, I don't remember) so she'd be 15 like Sonic. It turned into a big thing of her still being mentally 10, but physically 15. AND she totally blew it by using the one wish they had on something stupid when a war was going on. Not one of my favorite Archie series plot points. I wish they'd just broken previous canon, said she was 12, and been done with it.

Yeah, I remember the wish on the ring, but I don't think they ever exactly specified that she was 15, just "old enough to date Sonic/be a Freedom Fighter", and that's where I'm a little fuzzy.
I always thought it was a jump from 8 to 12 for some reason, but 15 makes more sense.
Since she always acts like a 12 year old, is viewed as a 12 year old, and looks exactly like her game counterpart who is a 12 year old, I went ahead and made her 12. (Besides, no one ever brings it up anymore and she's not as... developed as the other teenagers are.) It would be more difficult to convey a childish 10 year old in a 15 year old's body, too. But it would be interesting to explore how she dealt with the sudden change and how it affects her personality. Cripes, I'm glad the change from 10 to 15 doesn't happen that quickly... o__o
