AmandaDrage In reply to Shadow-and-Flame-86 [2010-03-16 14:17:09 +0000 UTC]

definitely. I'd love to get close-ups like this. There are lots of kites around where I live but no feeding stations as far as I know, so the best I can get are silhouettes of them in flight!

Shadow-and-Flame-86 In reply to AmandaDrage [2010-03-17 19:53:26 +0000 UTC]

thats still cool, I took these of a captive bird but I have seen wild ones flying around, they are so distinctive in the air!

70-200mm with a x1.7 teleconverter

thank you

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

HamooDNoiSy In reply to Shadow-and-Flame-86 [2010-02-01 18:39:32 +0000 UTC]

oh i see, whats the x1.7 teleconverter ? what does it do, if you don't mind ^_^

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Shadow-and-Flame-86 In reply to HamooDNoiSy [2010-02-01 19:14:59 +0000 UTC]

it doubles the focal range of your lens but also makes you lose an f stop, so it makes my 70-200mm f2.8 effectively into a 70-400mm f5.6 or something along those lines

HamooDNoiSy In reply to Shadow-and-Flame-86 [2010-02-03 09:35:49 +0000 UTC]

wow gr8 info
so if i have the macro lens and i bought that tele , will it gives extra focus instead on focusing on one thing ?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Shadow-and-Flame-86 In reply to HamooDNoiSy [2010-02-03 22:30:24 +0000 UTC]

teleconverters are built for zoom lenses as far as I know, I haven't heard of them being used on macro lenses. for one thing, most proper macro lenses don't have a 'zoom' ring on the lens like 'normal' lenses, they just have a focus ring so even if you connected a teleconverter there yould be no way of taking advantage of the extra range.

HamooDNoiSy In reply to Shadow-and-Flame-86 [2010-02-04 08:47:45 +0000 UTC]

oh okay!!, i see!, what about portrait lenses ? wide lenses ?
sorry to bother you but i would app if you answered

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Shadow-and-Flame-86 In reply to HamooDNoiSy [2010-02-04 10:09:14 +0000 UTC]

It would work for portrait lenses, ie the typical sort of kit lenses you get with a camera body. but I don't know about wide angle/fisheye lenses. To be sure, ask in the camera shop before you buy one, I am no expert on these things and I'd hate to give you bad advice!
