They had searched the ruins on Thessia. Even with the war ending months ago, the ruins were still burning. Liara barely recognized her homeplanet, not even the place around the home that she and her mother had shared.
She found the small temple nearby. Benezia had loved it. Not so bright as the wealthy Athame temples in the main cities, but small and cozy, a place Liara had spend a lot time in her childhood.
Now it was wrecked. The roof full of holes, the mural reliefs fallen to the floor, but the statue still standing like a symbol of hope. Liara thought bitter about what hope. Her believe was shattered, it all had been a lie.
On the floor she found a small Hanar plushie. She grabbed it and slid down the wall. She had owned a smiliar one and even if this was not hers, it let memories flare up in her mind. The day her mother had bought her the plushie, they had been here. Her mother had kneeled in front of her and told her, always to listen to the past, as a guidance for her future.
Liara remembered how she had been distracted by a little girl dancing on the sill, laughing.
Her grip tightened, her stomach clenched. She missed her mother. And she miss the laughter in the streets of Thessia.
