It was really sad, but the animation was absolutely gorgeous! Have you seen Secret of Kells? I'm obsessed with the art.

I loved the movie so much... it was better than Kells, imho. The story felt more rounded and the art style went a step further, keeping its uniqueness.

If I ever have the money, I'm buying the movie purely based on how good Secret of Kells was.

It's actually even BETTER. The story felt like it had more direction and cohesion then Kells, and the style feels a bit more mastered (the detailed backgrounds have more dept rather then always looking like a character against a flat background). Basically, they took everything they learned and made a great movie. It was awesome.
