the design of this piece is perfect, following the letter style and artistic style of one Ralph Steadman, Gonzo artist. The colours in the background are a great choice, the central focus being of course rum, these colours draw in nicely with the central focus of the piece.
As stated, I love the design of this piece, but the only thing that gets me wrong is that you portrayed Thompson himself as the main character of this story, even though Thompson himself did travel from New York to San Juan and this story could be loosely based off of experiences in his own life, it is still a fictional story. And even if the goal is to show that it is loosely based off his life, you still portrayed Thompson in his traditional fear and loathing style clothing and lack of hair, Thompson has hair on the cover of this book.
If I were to change anything I would make thompson appear more like he is on the cover of the book dressed in beach attire and younger. My reasons are because, to me, this book was so much different from fear and loathing to liken the two I feel is just making his novels more stereotypical, though they are not. However, I am not the artist of this piece and we do have our own artistic integrity in everything we do. Just some of my thoughts on the piece and what its based on. Well done

Thanks so much for the critique!! I agree 100% with the fact that Hunter should have been portrayed more as the character in the book. I guess it was instinct to paint him as the familiar face so that everyone would know what the painting was. And yes, he did have more hair
