Mine too! His progression through the series is one of the most interesting to me, and he's been my favorite to draw as well. He's one of the earliest characters I can remember geeking out over... which is quite awhile now I guess because I'm as old as the series itself (eep!).

With the size of Dende I would have thought that Dende was still a baby

The background is beautiful, but the characters don't quite "fit in" with it. They look like they were copy-pasted over an image. A shadow under Dende will help, and perhaps a little black outline in the foreground. Dende looks really tiny. o.o But the art and coloring is spectacular. Fantastic job all around!

Thanks Fantasy-DreamerMC, I followed the style of the anime when creating this illustration, which uses more illustrative/painted backgrounds and foregrounds (non-characters) as opposed to the characters, which follow Akira Toriyama's style from the manga. Throughout the Dragon Ball (Z) anime, non-character foreground elements retain an illustrative, painted-like quality without hard edges in the vast majority of scenes throughout the series (with the exception of when things in the environment are manipulated and animated for some reason). I'll take it as a compliment that you think my reproduction of Toriyama's character designs are that spot-on, but the characters were sketched and line work done primarily using the pen tool in Adobe Illustrator, which lends to much cleaner line work (in addition to importing the vector back into Corel Painter at a high DPI [600]). Piccolo is listed as roughly 7 1/2 feet tall in the Dragon Ball Wiki [link] and I referenced Dende's height as best I could for there not being anything listed for him at this stage of the series; however, I referenced how tall he was next to other characters in both the anime and manga with known heights (especially Gohan as a child) and compared their proportions back with Piccolo. I agree that adding a shadow under Dende would add to it, but I was trying to stay true to the style of the anime cels as best I could. In addition, the perspective change is also why the background of the Lookout is colored as it is (in addition to emulating the anime; see: atmospheric perspective in color theory). Thank you for your input on my work, and I hope this explains why I made the stylistic decisions I did in this piece for you. Best of luck to you in your future art endeavors.
