Description A new series of size charts in a new style! This time starting with the Late Pleistocene of Cyprus. This island fauna was probably the last to disappear, as Cyprus humans arrived to Cyprus on a later date around 12,000 years ago.

And no I never get bored of them

1. Cypriot genet (Genetta plesictoides). An endemic genet, one of the few examples of insular carnivores in the Mediterranean, with a dentition adapted to a more carnivorous diet, probably due to the abundance of prey such as reptiles and birds on the island.

2. Cyprus dwarf hippo (Hippopotamus minor). The smallest island species of hippo known to date, and the most numerous animal in Cyprus, around the size of the extant pygmy hippo and weighing around 150-200 kg, it walked on its toes and had terrestrial habits.

3. Cyprus dwarf elephant (Palaeoloxodon cypriotes). While not as small as the Sicilian elephant, the Cyprus dwarf elephant was quite tiny, around 1.4 meters tall and half a ton in weight, in comparison with the 4 meter tall and 7 ton weight mainland species P. antiquus.

4. Cypriot blunt-nosed viper (Macrovipera lebetina). The blunt-nosed viper still lives on Cyprus, however, there are fossil remains of a very large individual that would have probably reached more than 3 meters in length, indicating that in the past the snakes on the island were far larger than current ones.
