I made it. 4000 Deviations. 4000 things submitted to this website. And I'm just about a month or two away from my 9 year anniversary here, so that's a lot of drawings in a relatively small amount of time. Now keep in mind, this doesn't include crappy images I put in storage nor does it include the shitty images I deleted years ago, so it may be slightly more. Aww, whatever. Still a big milestone!
I've seen people who have been here longer who haven't even made it a quarter of the way to 4000. I think part of it is my own desire to draw. Not that these people don't have it; it's just that I continually have myself draw. I draw around 12 sketches each week and I publish 8 new drawings a week on here. I want to be continually making new things and I want to show them off to people.
But even though I like making new things, for this, my 4000th submission, I thought we'd take a look back. I wanted to make this drawing a throwback to the very first drawings I made of all my characters (or at least the characters whom I'm still drawing regularly). Just getting to see how far I've come with their designs as well as my artistic skills is a good way to celebrate this milestone. I want to appreciate the past for what it started, but also celebrate the progress I've made. So for all 46 characters, I've drawn them in a very similar, if not the exact same, pose that they were first drawn in. Now, for some of them, this was difficult, since they were only drawn from the waist up, so I had to give their legs something to do in these drawings, too. That's why this took over a week to make. I thought it would also be appropriate to line them up based on when they were first drawn, and to go off that, I gave everyone a sign to hold with the date they were first drawn and first published (i.e. when I submitted the first drawing of them to ). That way, you can see how long I've been drawing them, as well as how long it took me to finally show them off.
Admittedly, I did something similar for my 3000th submission (which no one cared about ), but this time around, things are different. I've been drawing digitally for longer, I actually know how to use a digital drawing program, and I've learned several new drawing techniques. Plus, many of my characters got redesigned over the past couple of months, so there's some pretty major differences between their original drawings and this drawing. I also now have over 700 watchers and I submit to groups regularly, so there's a better chance people will see this.
So thank you all for you support! I'm so happy that I could make and upload 4000 works to this website, and I hope to continue to do so for another 1000 submissions! I'll see you tomorrow for submission 4001.
