On this one I just used the dodge and burn tool and drew the individual hair strands using the pen tool.

that's what I used on this piece, the smudge tool also works well. I have a couple tutorials in my gallery that address this area if you wish to look at them.

amazing! is it your job? or just hobby? me, i work as a graphic designer here in philippines,
before i only design birthday banners, poster, signages. then about a week ago, i saw a lot
of great designs here in DA. im amaze specially in Photomanipulation.
It's a bit hard for me now, i know i have to study more in this field.
