Crappiest Raven King art EVER. I'm sorry, Johnny, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to make him look so awful. But I had to do some art, so... I did. John Uskglass, the Raven King, King of the North, unpronouncable Faerie name, etc., etc.Erm. I hope this doesn't spoil anybody, but yes. It is attempting to be from a scene in Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell. Maybe.

Childermass DOES = Snape! I'm so happy someone else noticed. Sarcastic attitude, the way he despises everyone, the description of his appearance- he is exactly like our Potions Master in every way. Yeah. I really can't see what's so bad about this picture- it's one of the best Raven Guy fanart I've seen, and although he's certainly not angsty he is described as a romantic poet-like figure, which could look rather similar. Definitely closer than anything I've ever drawn.

I don't care what you say, I think this is a most excellent rendition of the Raven King from the end of the book when he shows up in "modern" clothing.

I love it! It's great. The book is also amazing....This picture reminds me a bit of Howl from Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones. Very nice!

*bounces* I'm reading that book! My dad just got it for me 'cause I'm bedridden for a bit- it's so good! I love your drawing too. The Raven King is definitely my favorite character, and you've done a great job of portraying him. I'll definitely back to see this again when I'm done with the book...

You're right, it's the eye!! Sigh. I think I'd have done better if I'd taken the time to draw him on paper instead of with my Tablet of Doom.
I suck at backgrounds. I never do them. They are evil. >.> (Meaning they take time/effort.)
But thank you for the crit! Really. I think I'll actually redo the whole thing with real pencils and whatnot. I always have a heck of a time managing detail in Open Canvas. And in any paint program for that matter. *scoots off*

Yuh, I used to repeat the eye-thingy all too often, so I've grown keen in spotting that kind of stuff. 
And I agree, backgrounds are a nuisance, even more so because of the enormous amount it can add to a pic if one is successful.
