very powerful use of 2d shapes makes for a better-than-usual thumbnail. the knives in the background are kinda boring tho, very much a lost opportunity. could've been a tidy range based on scale or an absolute mess or something else that could hint at the character almost as much as the effective pose and expression.

Thank you! I didn't spend too much thought into the background layout, I admit. If this were a normal illustration commission, I wouldn't hesitate to spend as much time as necessary in whatever place I could improve on!
But this commission type is supposed to be "painterly experimental" not "illustration with detailed background". If I had spent more time on it, I would've made more research into what kind of backgrounds would be possible, instead of going with the first thing that came to mind. But it would both be unfair towards the other people in this same batch who got a more simplistic/minimalistic background, and it would be unfair to any future commissioners who want something similar, but then have to pay the 100$ price tag instead of this experimental 35$.
Like yeah, I won't hold back if I'm enjoying myself,, but since this "experimental type" is already quite a wild-card, I at least have to gauge some kind of balance between how and where I invest the time and effort 'nd stuff :'I
