All in all, I find that very true; despite being all shoujo and magical, in reality, when you're 'special,' the ones you love are in danger. ;-;
As they say in my all beloved superhero, Spiderman: "With great power, comes great responsibility."
I feel they really had portrayed that very well in the second OVA. I'm gonna go more in depth of that, through New Beginnings and the Waiting For You sequel: An Eternal Bond. Sometimes the hardest thing is to live through the consequences of your actions.
Wow, Rurouni Kenshin, much? (I'm so excited about the new live action, I can hardly contain it. I may have to reread the mangas again.)

I have thought about that, since I myself strive to have magical abilities the non-falling-into-radioactor way.
Usually in stories with ones with abilities, there are things and people who are precious to the one with the ability, and they feel the cause of it.
Seeing how this is true in varying shows and movies all which i adore, does this really deter me from my path of yearning for abilities?
No not really.
But it does make me sympathetic to the ones with them,
