A return to a simpler art style, as just like last year, we celebrate Christmas with some of the great palaeontological discoveries of the year. And what another year it’s been for palaeontology! At the centre, Caihong welcomes us to the celebration, while Triassic butterflies and the revolutionary feathered anurognathid swarm around him. To his left, a Caelestiventus and a Chimerarachne eagerly wait to open their presents, while an Acantholipan watches. As an Eorhynchochelys plays with the tinsel, an Alcione dolls up a Lisowicia for the occasion, while an Ingentia takes a liking to the holly. To Caihong’s right, a Gordodon does its’ best to look festive, and a Thanos attempts to open its’ suspicious looking gift. While a Saltriovenator develops a taste for candy canes, a Mistralazhdarcho comforts an Anhanguera, still in mourning after the loss of the fossils destroyed in the Brazil museum fire. And from up above, a Ledumahadi bends down to join the festivities, bringing a baby Xiaophis with it.
