Really Awesome. You used faber pencils?

Thank you! I used Prismacolors [link] but I don't recommend them, they're very brittle so the tips keep breaking off. My next set will probably be Polychromos.

Cool drawing, think it would be better if you did not reference Lily Cole. She is a hard face to capture and this I feel does not capture her look, still looks fine however in a general sense and looks almost original in that way because of it.

I hope I don't sound too defensive, but that's how she looked in the reference. I understand your point though, it's not so much a portrait of Lily Cole as it is a portrait of Eve with Lily Cole as the model.

I see what you are saying, however from my viewpoint I would say the eyes are a little small as are the lips and the jaw line is a little off. What makes Lily Cole, Lily Cole to me is the exaggerated eyes and short distance from her nose to the bottom of her chin. Very hard to do, I sometimes cannot get a subject right until like after drawing them three or four times.

Yep, can't argue with you on those points. In addition, if I may critique my own drawing, I think the crease of the upper eyelids, especially on her right eye, should have been slightly higher toward the outside edge, more defined, and extended slightly further out. This is probably why her eyes appear to be too small. Also, the line defining her lower lids should have been more straight across, a problem evident in many of my portraits. I could have done the nose better too. Maybe next time.

Thank you very much! I was considering naming the drawing "Eve", but since her real name is Lily I didn't think it would be right.

Gorgeous colored pencil portrait. I love the way you colored her flesh tones. Her skin looks very soft and I can see many layers of color in it. I especially love her red hair and how it contrasts so well with her blue eyes and necklace. Wonderful attention to detail and an outstanding job! Thanks for sharing.

Thank you Robert. I can always count on you for the most thoughtful comments. Coloring the skin is often the most enjoyable part of the process. Hair, on the other hand, is always torture for me. I usually crop the face to avoid having to draw so much hair, but I decided to not be such a wimp this time and challenged myself.

You are most welcome Patrick. I can imagine there is quite a difference between creating smooth realistic skin tones and texture rich hair. The both are challenging. :^)
