I haven't used realistic techniques in a long, long time. So I destroyed the line art and filled it with bleh. Might color the other version if I can get my confidence up again.Off and on for a couple of days. Just a 2B pencil. Lots of erasing. And smudging. WITH MY HANDS. Um. Scanned and touched up with the lomo-ish effect in Picnik, since the original scan didn't thrill me.
Wut. Hirek and Lee. His paint looked way better last night.

Very, very nice! I love his look and the uncomfortable tension in her stance. And her bee-stung lips!
I think cross-hatching would have served you better than smudging here. Smudging has the tendency to make everything look a little messy! Although it has to be said that, on this one, you pulled it off fairly well.

Haha, lips are hard. For me at least. I've never really liked puffy lips.
I think you're right; cross-hatching probably would have served me better here. I realized way too late that the paper I was working with didn't take kindly to the hand smudging. Next time, though!

I am totally digging the shading on that hair. It's so... touchable. Overall, it's a great job. Only things I might point out would be define the shadow at creases/high contrast areas like the very tip of her nose and along her jaw on the side the shadows are cast, but otherwise, it's awesome. I'd say stuff about the alien, but I know nothing of their anatomy or... anything. I LIKE THAT THAR EYE. Very intense.
