Vision & Originality: Just WOW. This is the first time I saw something like this. Very well thought of. Very well made! Congratulations cause you have an awesome superb work in here made by you only. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/c/c… " width="20" height="20" alt="" title="Clap" />

Technique: Just the thought of you making this gives me an idea of what an awesome artist you are. The Rubix cube alone is a complex object that can be photographed beautifully with an awesome mind. But you, you mixed it with water. Wow! The droplets along the Rubix cube are awesome. The background and tone compliment with the already awesome framework! e.deviantart.net/emoticons/c/c… " width="20" height="20" alt="" title="Clap" />

Impact: Do I even need to say how much impact this made? For me, probably, the best conceptualized work I've seen here in DA this year 2010. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/c/c… " width="20" height="20" alt="" title="Clap" />

BTW, I can help you solve it. Haha. LOL. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/w/w… " width="23" height="23" alt="" title="w00t!" />

Awesome!
I love this picture. The idea with the water is pretty cool and the way patrick shot this photo, the clarity of the water drops amd all that are just amazing.
The composition of the picture is great because you can see the wierd waves cast on the water on the ground and on the cube. The colors he chose for the cubes sides are also very fitting and have a great affect on the atmosphere.
There is a lot of movement in this picture and i really want to know how he shot it.
One tiny downside: the cube's lower row seems a little blurred. is that wanted? why did it happen?

all in all, great picture series! i recommend having a look!

Thank you so much for the critique!

Yes and no, the blur wasn't planed but I like it, it creates a great depth of field and move your view to the upper part form the cube.

Hi,
I have a canon eos 500D and really like to photograph a bit macro, but also
dog portraits etc. I'v seed the Tamron A014 zoomlens, 18-200mm EF, f/3.5-6.3
and i think thats the one you use? Is it a good lens? I can buy it for 159 euros,
is that a good price?

Nice photo by the way!
Puckcherry

PatrickRuegheimer In reply to puckrietveld [2011-11-03 20:14:33 +0000 UTC]

Nope, I use Canon lenses. But also 18-200mm.

I love that lens even tho I'd love to have some less mm for the sky, but for portraits it should be fine. Even tho it won't work for macros.
I use a 100mm macro lens for macro shots, was about 800€.

150 should be pretty cheap my 18-200 lens is about 400€. o_O

So I'm not really able to say how tamron lenses are, I just know that 18-200 mm are pretty nice, even tho not for macros, if not written in the description of the lens. =/

Love your work, by the way!
