Apparently between '51 and '61 a couple of Hungarian HAM radio operators picked up some messages coming from above the atmosphere in Russian. Usually saying things equivalent to, "Oh God Oh God I'm going to die."

Can HAM radio pick up stuff outside the atmosphere.
