Bien sur, sous l'eau. Et ca flotte, mais ca flotte autant horizontalement que verticalement - ou du moins ce que j'imagine etre la verticalite: cette main semble tellement detachee de cette tete qu'on se demande si elles appartiennent a la meme personne. Comme toujours, tes autoportraits ont une bonne dose d'abstrait, mais certains details - les levres ici - qui les rendent tres humains, tres proches.

ça flotte aussi dans la troisième dimension. mais tu as raison, la verticale n'est pas celle qu'on te présente.
le secret du détachement est le noir. je m'y était préparée en m'habillant entièrement de noir, jusqu'au menton. c'est la seule de la série qui illustre bien mon idée.
les lèvres me semblaient difficiles à accepter au début, trop glacées, trop révélatrices. terriblement humaines comme tu le dis

Ca marche bien, ce noir. J'ai une idee en tete qui utiliserait des bout de corps qui sortent d'un habit noir sur fond noir, mais va falloir que je m'organise!

I didn´t mention it earlier , but your head resembles the head of the harlequin doll i bought from the fleamarket , expression is same and it even seems to be of same material , i made some paintings where i used the doll as a model , it was long time ago and i haven´t found them to show. There was same discomforting lifelessness in those doll images .
Title brings this even closer to interpretation i offered earlier ( at least in my mind ) under the surface of lifelessness , like under the metaphorical ice

.. yes , and hands that seem to have more life than the head and consciousness of their own they can be seen other way too , like dragging the head down , against lighter background head seems like it´s floating upwards , like towards surface , out of the picture
