Description
In 1602, the army of duke of Savoie (currently in France) decided to invade the independent republic of Geneva.

Fortunately, the authorities had been informed of the infamous duke's projects and the people of Geneva had time to prepare the resistance ! In the night of the 12th of December 1602, the Savoie army has therefore been defeated and had to escape back to where it came from, despite it's huge numerical advantage !

Since this time, we celebrate this victory every year in what is called "l'Escalade". For this occasion, people wear costumes and kids sing old traditional songs in public places to get some pocket money. It's our own Halloween party except it's based on our History !
