The way this came out was all synchronicity, actually. I was simply hoping the orchids would be in focus.
The stone in my ring is green tourmaline from the Pala mine. I think we spoke of it a while ago? Still haven't made it there: I'm concerned about my claustrophobia.

Do they even let people into the mine? When I went there a couple years ago, they just had people sifting through dirt brought out from the mine.

Oh, I'm not sure. I only saw footage from a mine in Julian and got a little freaked out by it and may have over-generalized. They let people sift through it? How cool: and did you sort it/find anything?
My ring's from a jeweller, Frans Visser, based in Julian. We didn't have it made, but you should've heard Tim when we found it.

How fun! You can sift through a bucket of the stuff for a price, which is worth it once for the experience, but probably not twice. I did find some small bits of tourmaline, which I still have somewhere.
