Description
per insistence of a friend of mine, note the 3 still people. he seems to think its neat or something.i wish i could have gotten a longer exposure on that one, but it was impossible to balance the camera. longer == less people, but ...yeah. i only ended up having 4 sharp takes out of 15 or so.
this image goes well with all my staircase images in general.

I really like how all the people are in action while the other 3 people are in focus.

I really like it and I do agree that with both the moving and non moving people it does give a good affect. It is beautiful!

The haziness of people and those who are stiff work well with the photo. I love the angle at which it is take and it does make a better black and white tone photograph. If you have a colour version too can i see it? Very nice! j'adore.

Is this only a single shot? I'd have thought from the blur from some people and the stillness of others that maybe you'd set the camera up on a tripod and layerd two shots together with different exposure times?

it is a single shot - i rested the camera on the staircase to avoid blur, and waited until i liked the stillness/blurriness ratio of the people. took me a few tries until the 3 people didn't move (they stayed still for a while), while the others were moving.
in a perfect world everyone would move, but that was impossible

Such a fantastic photo, the whole still people/blurred people is a very nice contrast which adds interest to the photograph.

if your staircase could be designed by michelangelo, it probably would look like that

well, after reading almost all the comments, i've to say that the photo is very interesting, its beauty doesn't find its way easily in the eyes but even if i consider this kind of shots... stereotypical, i still have an admiration for the way that each photographers finds to catch it.
Have a nice day.

This is a beautiful piece. I do have a bias in that I love pictures of stairs like this, but still it's lovely. To me, the woman in the striped sweater is the focal point and I love how your eye is immediately drawn to her and then jumps to the other two focused people before sort of spiraling outward from that point. I agree completely that they are both cool and make the piece. The blurred people are also very nice. They add a more subtle dimension to an otherwise stark composition; especially in the way they waver.
