Im reading Lovecrafts Storys at the moment and as a strange twist fate South Park making Cthulhu themed Episoded, moking "the" Great Old One. I decited to clear up his reputation as the Overlord of destruction, chaos and madness.Clearly seeing the signs of his soon arival, making myself standing on the right side

Edit: after the nice Comments of Manarama and Scebiqu and of course to please the great cthulhu I made some changes in the lighting on the Picture.

I've read Lovecraft's stories for more than twenty years and this is one of my most favorite imaginings of him. It absolutely captures his vast dread intellect, and his utter indifference to the human race. Ia Ia!

This is one of the most artistically brilliant β and genuinely terrifying β representations of Cthulhu I have ever seen online. The uncanny lighting, the incredible *scale*, everything about it is spectacular. It is the perfect embodiment of HPL's phrase, "A mountain walked." Wow!

What was your inspiration for the trunk-tentacle-thing? Did you just make it up cause it looked creepy, or did you research marine life and found a creature that had that?

I think it schould look like a jellyfish or something. Because their Schwabbel is called tentacles too

γ²γγγγγγοΌ I love it! It feels truer to how Lovecraft describes Cthulhu than nearly any other image I've seen. The flabby fatness, the sickly translucence of the flesh suggesting that it is made of some unearthly matter that maybe doesn't quite fully exist in our reality. The cold, glinting eyes, gazing off, not even noticing, or if noticing just not caring, about the submarine, which to me seems to perfectly capture the concept of Cthulhu not being necessarily evil per se, as such labels just have no meaning to such an utterly alien entity who's mode's of existence and thought we cannot begin to grasp.
Sorry to rave, just a huge fan of the story (and HPL in general), and I feel this captures the feeling, description and conception perfectly.
I take it a print version of this isn't available? A large framed print of this on my wall would be an excellent addition I feel...

While the art is good, I don't quite see it as true to the stories, it mentions a "somewhat bloated corpulence", you may have gone a bit overboard. It is supposed to appear to be a cross between a octopus, a dragon, and human; I don't see much dragon. More of just octopus and fat man.

Is that from a certain story of HPL?
I could only remember that one with the german submarine where they retrieve that key-thingy from a "corpse" but cthulhu himself doesnt appear in that story.

This is one of the most impressive interpretations of the image of Cthulhu I have ever seen (and I've seen just about all of the ones the internet has to offer 
I would advise making the wings clearer, especially at the base. Now it just seems like he has spirit wings or something.
