Description
Collaboration between me andOnce the glass in Temple of the Sol is shattered, the sun will shatter like a glass.
Concept of the Hour of Twilight.
That illustration represents a story of werewolves how I represents them. A small story I've created and the concept, where khaos created an amazing mood and colors with it.
As in the common fantasy werewolves are represented on the background of full moon at the night, as well, even wolves too. I don't know why exactly and what reason usually it's represented of active wolves at the night with full moon.
I always loved werewolves, yet... I wanted to come with a story with it and something different than classic werewolf in the nature and moon- and something darker...
Baroque/gothic styled temples and churches, abandoned ones came to my mind... reminding me from Disney movies of Norte Dame, with it's beasts and monsters haunted on gothic buildings.
And then main theme... the twilight (nothing really related with "Twilight" books nor "twilight princess" game). Actually wolves are not nocturnal but crepuscular- active at the dawn or dusk. It came when I have been volunteering in Wolf Sanctuary, I made so much interaction with real wolves wanting to use inspiration...
So I'm wanting to create a little myth about werewolves as twilight beasts with it's own deep legend.
There is a tower which I'vemade a concept, which is a heart of the Sun. It's said the ancient people made a sacral Temple of the Sol where the sun keeps a balance between the Light (Day) and Darkness (Night). It's a giant tower which is surrounded of huge towers (it's placed deeply in deserted nature) in clockwise-style (inspiration of the sun, gothic temples, sun dials and stained glasses). That middle tower has on the top irregular-sun shaped giant stained glass window where keeps a light of the majestic sun.
It's said a legend about Grande Mundo- a giant werewolf which comes at the Hour of Twilight...
Destroys the stainglass of the sun, the sun gets shattered like a glass, bringing the darkness...
Sun is not faded completely, sun lays on the horizon like shattered glass on the ground, causing the faint light effect... the Twilight...
That's concept so far, I may want to create that myth where I have already ideas.. What do you think? (ideas are welcomed!)
Thank you for looking, :devkhaosdog deserves much love for her excellent job as well! (excuse me for english, typed fairly fast, I'm not well situated with time lately... will fix later!)
the original painting with it's unique *khaosdog 's baroque frames will be on SALE on EUROFURENCE.

This is sooooo amazing! I can't even put into words how great this is. I just love how you made a story to make a werewolf different... it is so much better than the classic one. And the art to go along with all of that is sooooo amazing! The colors of the twilight are briliant and the werewolf himself is great. I expessially love the size of his feet. Just spectacular. Okay I'm done now

Hmm... I didn't know that about wolves. I never realized they were crepuscular. Cool!Β
I'm trying to write my own werewolf legend as well... It is so not as epic as this. Haha, I can't wait to see more wolf art, you have a very unique and fresh style. Β

I am enthralled... you must write moar!
I was wondering... Here, you seem to have represented a Lycan-type werewolf (from Greek and Roman mythology, not from the movie) rather than the more humanoid werewolf that seems so prevelant in fantasy today. Was that intentional? Because I like it!
As for ideas...
"...And as the Sun's glowing shards melt into the horizon, the light of them seeps together into a new light. The warmth is lost, and much of the brilliance and glorious radiance that the light once held. Beneath this new light, creatures of fey and evil nature may roam without fear -- for the purity of glory of the sun is lost.
Grande Mundo cries out to his creation in triumph, a long, slow, mournful note; for even he grieves at the bittter loss of the suns brilliance to the cosmos."
...Aaaanywho, that's all I've got for you. Hope it helps you some!
Amazing painting!

I absolutely adore the story behind this picture! I love the picture itself and faved it quite a while ago, but I never really looked at the description until now. I love it! You should write out an entire short story or something on it, I love the idea! And the darkness behind the legend is what makes me giddy since so many stories on werewolves anymore are about happy werewolf clans or what have you.
If you have any other ideas on your story I'd love to read it! It's so interesting.
