30 minutes speedpainting.
Some ravenous monster turkeys. Yum! I'm having fun with some more grainy brushes.
Painting without preliminary obsessive planning was much needed. I really need to relax and accept bad anatomy/staging when it's just a quick explorative concept. THEN work on refining the idea and the technical stuff.

I really enjoy your composition and heavy brush strokes. The town on a painting looks very European. May I ask if you used a canvas or a hard board as a backing for this painting?

Thank you very much.

Regards, Roma.

Thank you, Roma! I really appreciate it.
I guess it shows that I'm in fact European I hope this isn't disappointing to you, but this piece was painted digitally. I created some brushes out of actual scanned brush strokes and worked on a single layer to emulate a traditional painting process.
However, I prefer canvases for traditional painting - they're great if you like to achieve rough and unpredictable brush strokes.

Thank you very much for explanation! It is fascinating how everything progresses in digital world. This is such an amazing idea of scanning the actual brush strokes. I will try to experiment with this for sure.

Yeah, I have a pretty big problem with purely conceptual work myself. I'm such a perfectionist and cannot draw without intending for some grand work. /:

Anyway. I like this. Looks like these things are contemplating raiding a village but possibly aren't actually strong enough to do so.

Exactly!
I'm sorry to hear you're struggling with the same stuff. Even when I manage to produce concepts I like spontaneously, without thinking of great ends, I add content and complexity because people would see it... and everything gets so big it scares me off. Oh well. I'm working on it
And thank you!
