The way how the gems are set in these pieces are so creative!

This one is a prime example of how (typically undesireable) tool marks can be used to add a dramatic effect. Endmills, ok...Lathe parts, uhm not so much... I know, I'm a stickler... Photography is my ART. Machining is my LIFE.

undesirability is in the eye of the beholder. and it was a fly cutter.
i've actually seen some amazing patterns come from using the wrong speeds/feeds causing chatter on a lathe.
do you have your own machine tools, or only use the equipment at the machine shop you work for?

I own a small prototyping shop(1CNC mill 2 engine lathes and all the periperal stuff), I also work for a microwave communications fabricator [link] ( 2 Swiss machines, and 3 CNC mills). I hope I did not offend with my comments. I had looked thru all of your pieces, and the one that you posted today just didn't look like typical of your collection.
Peace

i'm not offended. i just want everyone to understand that there is no right or wrong when it comes to creativity. i know it's different when comes to making precision components, trust me, i know. i think part of the reason it seems a little out of place has to do with the lighting. i just started using different photo editing software, and couldn't get the level right.

Your gallery is awesome, and this ring stands out as one of your strongest. I wish I had a CNC mill, too!!! Jealous!!!

i really like your gallery and works, everything that you create is just so good...i'm working most with silver and use sometimes other materials with silver...i don't like work with stones, if i use them i have always the feeling of hiding them... its very intresting to see your works with stainless steel...how can you make the moulding...did you work this forms with wax?

thank you. the stainless steel pieces i make are machined. i use a lathe, cnc mill, and manual mill to machine them.

Amazing stuff. Very nice textures. I think I like this one the most out of the ones I've been looking at in your gallery. There is something very abstract about this piece that works well as a piece of art as well as a ring.

Another steel and sapphire piece I like how uncompromisingly modern it is, and the subtle surface texture is really nice.

i've had a lot of interest in this piece, but i need to size it up. it doesn't seem to fit anybody. either it's too small, or too big.
if i can find more sapphires this size, i'll definitely make a couple more.

I love the detail of the texture here, especially with the sleek lines of the overall piece. I'm really impressed by how much light you've been able to direct into the bottom of the sapphire, it looks like it's glowing! I also especially like the reflection it throws down onto the steel, and your bolts - probably the best looking bolts I've ever seen! (Are they sapphires as well?)

thanks. i enjoy trying to come up with different ways i can set stones. i wish i could take credit for the bolts, but they are just some 0-80 stainless bolts i bought. much of my recent work incorporates small fasteners.

This is just my taste... silver metal and blue mineral. I don't own a saphirre yet, but one of this sort is exactly what I like.

I love how you set these stones... sliding and then bolting them in. This one is really nice how you can see aspects of the stone ( how its cut on the bottom etc ) that in traditionaly setting you wouldnt be able to see. I really like all your pieces.

thank you so much. i was very resistant to working with stones, so when i decided to, i tried to do something different. it's fun to try to set them in different ways. i noticed that you do a lot of carving. very cool. have you ever done any lapidary work?
