Description
This little chap was playing peekaboo with me from behind this tree trunk! Very cute! This was shot in Kielder Forest which is home to a (sadly) dwindling population of wild Red Squirrels.
Red Squirrel - Sciurus vulgaris
Body length 20-28cm
Our only native squirrel species. Easily told by orange-red fur and presence of ear tufts; tail usually paler than body, sometimes almost white. Has disappeared from much of former range. Now commonest in N England and Scottish Highlands. Isolated colonies elsewhere, for example, on Brownsea Island, Dorset.

Adorable shot you have there! Nice composition and I love that the tree is out of focus and the squirrel is in focus.

Thanks. Cool! They are lovely little squirrels, smaller and definately more attractive than the greys.
