Happy Monday, folks!

Last week was a bit chaotic due to the usual workload on top of my coming down with a killer flu that I'm just now starting to leave behind. That's why I wasn't able to upload the most recent updates over here as they came out of the drawing board; more specifically, my Battle Chasers warm-ups

As I said in my last post regarding these images, Battle Chasers -for those of you who are too young to remember the nineties- was a sci-fantasy comic by superstar artist Joe Madureira that broke the mold of what was being published back then. Just as his style was extremely fresh and dynamic with a clear manga flair, a fantasy tale about a medieval world of rogues and paladins was unheard of in the superhero-dominated market of the elder days. Suffice it to say that, as I was following Joe's work over from his stint on X-Men and other Marvel series, his stuff blew me away in this genre which seemed to absolutely suit his craftsmanship. However, constantly plagued by delays in production and Madureira's own waning interest in the comic business, made Battle Chasers very short lived; but that wouldn't stop us fans from praising it and following in its footsteps be it via fan art or creating more fantasy-based comics.
These characters here are part of the original team that formed after the first five issues: Knolan, one of the most powerful wizards in the land and Calibretto, a decomissioned wargolem in-hiding with the ol' sorceror. As with all of this comic, these archetypes really spoke to me as a fan of Fantasy and I enjoyed their designs and adventures quite a bit, which I hope I've captured somewhat here. Knolan I tried to make as grizzled as Madureira himself made him without losing that spark of wit and vitality all wizards have. And Calibretto, being a huge robot couldn't be fit into this small canvas which ended up working to my advantage. The giant stature of the friendly golem is further emphasised by the close cropping.
