another really interesting idea for this character. In the end were the tentacles just too much overhead? like animating them and making them work for the game?

Thanks man! Yeah. Animation for the arm/bunched up tentacles would have been a nightmare. They were going to spread out when attacking but bunch up into arms/legs when traversing.
