Description
Commissioned for issue 59 of ImagineFX magazine -- a workshop on painting fabrics. That issue is fantastic, btw--go buy it!It was very strange to work with such bright colors, hahah.
My cat made a cameo.

Good... Mosques are Turkish style. Likely a Byzantine woman traveled future and posed in Ottoman Palace

Like how the cloth came out and the way she is posed. This is beautiful!

Hey, look who can use color! Beautiful work, as always, but it'd feel 2-dimensional with out the cat (good work popping the cat in there). She's looking very graceful and lounging..then there's this cat stealing the show behind her. Love it!! ...and I'm simply tickled by the knowledge that it's one of your cats making a grand cameo.

stunning detail~ The folds in the fabric, the patterns, the background, every little thing really brings this picture to life~ Even just the way the threads on the yellow fabric fall over the arm of the chair~ It looks so real but better then a photo because it's got that painterly feeling and has a lot of emotion~

It was a themed issue (Prince of Persia) but the interpretation was left open so all the art didn't end up looking the same. I took influences from various cultures.
The title is what happens when I paint something that has no story, and type the first thing that comes to mind.

Lovely job, especially with the fringe work on the "piano shawl". Your cat ia quite appropriately regal.

Beautifully painted fabrics!
There's something wrong with the face - lips/shadow areas.

I worked on it over a period of two weeks. Not sure about how many hours actually went into painting it.

You did a fantastic job on this piece. That yellow fabric looks so real. I feel like I could just reach out and touch the silky material.

This is different from other beautiful haunted works (which I love), but I love this too Great vibrant colors and the folds are really well done.

Thanks! I always get a little worried when I try something outside my usual genre, so it's good to know it's still recognizable as "mine".

I know what you mean, it is kinda scary to work outside of your usual, but sometimes some of our best pieces come out of that challenge. The image still very much has your feel to it!

I don't know how you are about critique, so I'll just say it doesn't seem quite right to me. Everything is of course very worked, but the contrast / lighting seems imbalanced. I don't know! I guess you did your job, anyway.

omg u crited me u mean mean person. ;____;
You're totally right. I sensed something was off while I was making it, but didn't have time to figure out what it was due to a tight deadline. Of course now, a few months later, I can see what I should have done differently... oh well. Thanks!
