I was going to finish this sketch but then I got to lazy lmao I might redo this later

This is a "portrait" of 16-17 year old Belle during the Antebellum/ Pr-Civil War era

Also known as the most miserable time of her life

Honestly from 1800-1900 was a really hectic time for Arkansas

Just ten years after joining the union the state was thrown into its first war (U.S.-Mexican War) and soon after that another one (Civil War).
Native Americans, not just the ones Native to Arkansas, but all that was a part of the Trail of Tears all had to go through Arkansas to get to Indian Territory (which at the time was apart of Arkansas/under their control).
Slavery suddenly became this huge thing here and now blacks/mulattoes were second class citizens.

All this while broke ass hell too.

Honestly Arkansas was never given the chance to thrive like other southern states. Part of the reason why is during that time Arkansas was one of the most western states during the time so it was sparsely populated and then when the state did try to make something of itself it never really worked out. To be honest I think the government just gave up.

Now that was just the historical part of it.

Belle honestly was just a emotional void. Watching her mother die and watching her people along with thousands of others being forced to move away to make room for these white people that didn't even like her and being ridiculed for years and years and years just because the color of her skin did a number on her.

I imagine she didn't outwardly express any sort of intense of emotion, just nods and very soft spoken yes ma'am s and no sirs and only speaking when ever she was spoken to. Honestly I don't think there was any sort of light/spark in her eyes during this time.
