Nothing so exciting tonight, just painting from reference - I've really been meaning to do more of this sort of thing forever, I almost NEVER do it - but I've got such a huge 'reference' folder that never gets used so I figured I'd force myself to finally do some.I got more and more comfortable as I went on as might be obvious (and spent more time on 'em as I went), but a few things I noticed...
photos can look really friggin weird sometimes if you stare at them for too long;
copying from 'em is all well and good but distortion is a BASTARD and makes stuff look wrong anyway,
and DAMN I'm so not used to painting realistic faces T_T
Between 45 minutes and an hour each, I guess.

Those are fantastic...I dream of days when I can produce such work in under an hour and send them off to scraps!!! I really need to stop spending so much time drooling over your work and do some studying on my own!

I know it's a pain for everyone to try and use reference and then do their best to recreate it. It's that perfectionist-OCD part of the artistic side of your right brain having an all out slap-fest with the left side of your brain.
