Concept art of Emily’s death as sung in “Father’s of Death”.
This one painting has been long in coming, as those who followed the “birth-labour” know. Mainly, because of two reasons: my PC’s (now mythical) slowness, and… Emily.
Odd as it might sound, Emily and the Assassin are both characters I love equally.

The Assassin I like, because he’s Light and Wily’s very first creation, the very first Robot in the story. He’s the Prototype for all the soldiers in Wily’s army (which I adore *delightedly pokes the Sniper Joes*); and he’s probably the one thing – the one creature – that, along with Joe, inspired Light as he built Protoman.

Emily… she’s special. Her quite strength, her hope, her courage. Need I say more?
However, as was saying, I had some grief drawing her: as clearly as I have her in mind, I seemed unable to put her image to paper.
For her, I choose elements that’d give both an idea of “strength” and of “beauty”. Her hair is long, as befitting of such a pretty lady. It’s auburn, an extraordinary colour, very rare to chance upon. Her skin is a mix of many preliminary ideas I had – where it’s highlighted by moonlight, her flesh is blinding-pale, as to give her a more ethereal, fragile look. But the shadows are drawn in tones of purple, as if her natural skin tone was olive-ish, and that fits the image of such an hard worker as she was.
The pretty sundress also helps to define her femininity. It’s a very simple piece of clothing too, because she was not the kind to lose time with frilly things. She’s, for this same reason, wearing no make-up and no jewels.

The Assassin’s design is relatively simple: I drew him as I drew the Sniper Joes, his body crude, unrefined, unfinished, almost. I gave him a greenish tint and a red eye, because that’s the colour scheme of the Sniper Joes in the Megaman games.
His knife… is no ordinary weapon. It’s a hunting/combat knife. Something a hunter and/or a solider (i.e. a professional killer) would use. The blade is long, sharp, polished - lethal. The handle is long, also thick, possibly made out of wood, to well balance the metal on the other end.

Last note: Light’s room. As you can possibly glimpse through the shadows, the room is VERY bare. It suggests that Light was poor, and also rather uninterested in furnishing his home and make it feel… well, homely. He probably lived his life at his lab, anyway. Look, there aren’t even some draperies at the window…!
The clothes are towering, and also completely bare. There’s a swivelling chair, perfect for someone who – I reckon – had his notes strewn all over the placed, and needed to roll from one end of the room to the other to piece the puzzle together.
There’s a metal plaque on the wall – his degree, perhaps? Some trophy? And a glass, which is either the mirror where he (horror!) shaved in the mornings, or the frame covering either a picture, or another prize/document.
