Lovely. It has such a warm softness to it, one can't help but feel comfortable when looking at it... almost like sitting in a comfy chair by the fire, looking out the window on a cold, cold day, with the odd light that comes from the sky when there is the hint of snow in the air.
I know this isn't a late fall/early winter piece, but that's the feel I got in my head.

I get so jealous of folks that show such excellence with their first attempts at new media... 
This is gorgeous--and I love chickadees! We have mixed flocks that move through the trees around our home (nuthatches, chickadees, Pine siskins, creepers), and these little fellows are so darling: hanging upside down from the branches, picking off the bugs and spiders and moths. You've definitely captured the "jaunty!" Wonderful!

Thanks! This wasn't exactly new media... I use gouache a lot, but this was my first try on illo board. I <3 illo board!
I love nuthatches and am jealous that you get them! I hear them sometimes but haven't seen one since I moved down south. I've never seen any of those birds hang upside down - that must be great to watch!
