Description
Guided by Death------------------------------------------------------
First of all I would like to state that this image is not meant to offend anyone.I have served my country as a soldier in the past. Its just my personal view of war and the tragedy that comes out of it.Its an ART and not anything provoking.
People unfortunately often seem to be guided by a rage and fight each other blindly just to bring death upon their enemies. What ever the purpose may be the result is always the same, the loss of the precious human life...Thats why you can see death standing over the soldier and seem to be giving him the next target.Death is what always appears during war,and war brings pain and countless tears of blood...
Thank you all for viewing and I hope that you understand that this is just a clearly art aspect on how war looks in my mind.

This is profound. I absolutely love this piece. There is a true facet to war in its wastefulness and non-necessity, but at the same time it's in its non-necessity that I've found its necessity if that makes any sense. It begins at the downfall of diplomacy and is instigated by those who would use force to obtain what diplomacy could not, but it is only when the antagonized respond that it is actually war, if the antagonized did not respond then it would be murder which on larger scales has led to genocide. War is the declaration of your right to live and to not bow to those who would take your life from you. To see this case and point you need only look at the conflict in Ukraine, it is unlikely that the Ukrainians will be able to repel the Russian invader, but they wage war anyway, because they declared their right to live as they saw fit and will stand against those who would take this necessary and fundamental human right from them.

Truly astonishing piece. The idea is so commonly spoken of, yet I have never seen a graphic interpretation of it. From the technical side it's just as good. I can't find anything to complain about. Beautiful.

You are or were a soldier and can still draw so well. Truly a multi-talented individual.

Yes, Indeed I was a soldier but thankfully not into a war. That said, for me, was a good experience to get into that specific mentality and portray it into my art, Thank you for your comment and nice words!

This image is used online a lot with racist and dehumanizing captions (such as "aim for the towelheads"). Its a bit sad that the original meaning as been lost for some people.

Former combat engineer here, just putting in my two cents. I always saw the Reaper as neither good nor evil, but more as just some poor guy charged to do a job that is necessary but noone appreciates him for. In that way, I see him as very comparable to to a soldier.
Someone else may see death forcing the soldier to do something he doesnt want to do
I see two squad mates doing what they have to do
Might sound odd I guess...but thats what I think.
In any case, awesome pic. In my favs for sure

I love this. Love everything about it, has a former infantryman, I feel like this is spot on. When in combat death is all around you and sometimes guiding you.

I find this to be a very beautiful piece. Though you say it's not meant to rattle cages I think it's a perfect piece to do so. I've dealt with enough of these wars since I've grown up in a military family, even my extended family. To show the reaper standing over the soldier in such a way kind of make me thinks of a father figure, sadly. The way he's touching his shoulder in a way that's almost encouraging the soldier to take a life yet the soldier is crying. You can tell he doesn't really want to do it and is caught in the battle of choosing what he must do. Again, a beautiful and moving peace. Great work.

i completely understand what the message of you artwork screams out at us.my best friend is in the U.S. Marine Corps. he is currently serving in the 1st Batallion 3rd Marines Regiment and i remember him from back in the high school days when he was just abother carefree happy-go-lucky pothead like me without a care in the world. now he is a different person altogether. the war in Iraq and Afganistan has changed him and all of his Marine brothers also. he tells me about all the post traumatic stress disorder that alot of his fellow Marines suffer from all the horrors of war and what it was like to be in the hell that war is. a war is death`s kingdom and every battlefield is his playground and he is not restricted to skin color or beliefs he is universal and once he touches the souls of mankind they are currupted forever.

Thank you very much my friend!I appreciate the comment.I guess Death and war can spawn a huge variety of artwork after all.I served in Greek military (I'm Greek) a couple of months in the marines initially, then transfered to the artillery and anti-aircraft.
